Transferring to London Met from Santa Ana College is a supported process, and we're here to guide you every step of the way. Here's how to get started:
1. Choose Your Course
Explore our undergraduate degrees and select a course that aligns with your academic background and future goals. You can view our complete list of undergraduate courses.
- Check the list above to see if your course has already been mapped through our Santa Ana partnership – this can help fast-track your application.
- If your course is not listed, you can still apply, and you will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
- Review the course page to understand if the course is right for you. Look at the 'modules' section (classes) to get a clearer picture of what you’ll be studying.
- Transfer students can only begin in our September intake each year.
2. Submit Your Application
You can apply in two ways:
- Direct application to London Met – free and quick to complete. Go to your course page and click 'Apply'. When completing the application, select “Yes” under the question “Are you applying for advanced entry due to previously completed study at another university/higher education provider?”
- Via UCAS – the UK’s central application platform (a small fee applies).
When applying, you’ll need to:
- Provide your educational history. If you’ve completed your associate degree, upload your transcript and certificate.
- Upload a copy of your passport – this is required for visa purposes. If you don’t have it yet, you can upload it later via our applicant portal.
- If you're not a US citizen, or a citizen of a majority-english speaking country you may need to provide evidence of your English language proficiency (e.g. IELTS).
- Use the code A-8015 in response to the question “Are you working with a partner or agent?” – this helps us identify you as a Santa Ana student and unlocks tailored support from both London Met and Santa Ana.
3. Receive Your Offer
Once reviewed, your application will result in one of two types of offer:
- A conditional offer means your place is secured, but you'll need to meet specific outstanding requirements (such as completing your associate degree or submitting your final transcript).
- An unconditional offer means you’ve met all requirements and your place is confirmed.
If you're still completing your studies, you'll typically receive a conditional offer – simply upload your final transcript when it's available.
4. Evidence of Finances and Paying Your Deposit
Before we can issue your CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies), you’ll need to show how you'll fund your studies.
- If you're using US Federal Aid and are fully funded, the deposit is waived. You’ll need to email your FAFSA Student Aid Report (SAR) directly to London Met, as we do not receive this automatically. Our Financial Aid Office will issue you an award letter to confirm your funding, which can be used as your financial evidence.
- If you're self-funding, a £4,000 tuition deposit is required before your CAS can be issued. You may need to show how you’ll support yourself while studying, such as by providing personal bank statements.
- USA Elite Scholarship – US citizens are automatically awarded a £5,500 scholarship per year of study.
5. Receive Your CAS & Apply for Your Visa
Once all documents are approved and your funding confirmed, we’ll issue your CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) – a unique reference number required to apply for your UK student visa.
- Ensure your passport is valid.
- Apply online for your UK visa.
- You can receive guidance and support from our International Advice team throughout the process.
- Additional costs to be aware of include the UK student visa application fee, the Immigration Health Surcharge (paid in advance for the full duration of your studies – e.g. two years), and travel to a biometrics centre within the USA.
6. Prepare for Arrival
Once your visa is approved, it’s time to plan your move to London!
- You’ll receive an invite to a pre-departure meeting.
- You’ll be invited to attend International Orientation.
- You’ll receive details on enrolment, campus life, and what to expect when you arrive.
We’re excited to welcome you to London and support you every step of the way.
We understand that funding your studies is an important part of your planning – and we’re here to support you throughout the process. London Met offers a range of financial aid options and scholarships to help make your international education more affordable.
USA Elite Scholarship
All US citizens are automatically eligible for our USA Elite Scholarship, worth £5,500 per year of study. There’s no separate application required – you are assessed at application and the tuition fee discount is demonstrated in your offer letter.
US Financial Aid
Full-time applicants with US citizenship can apply for the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan Program to help cover the cost of tuition and maintenance for eligible undergraduate or postgraduate courses.
- Please see our US Finanical Aid page for more detailed information.
- You must email your Student Aid Report (SAR) directly to our Financial Aid Office at usfinancialaid@londonmet.ac.uk – we don’t receive this automatically from FAFSA.
Private Loans
We can certify private student loans for American nationals. You will need to complete the private loan application via the Earnest and/or Sallie Mae website.
Deposit Waiver for Federal Aid Recipients
- If you are fully funded through US Federal Aid, your tuition deposit is waived – just submit your award letter from London Met as your “proof of payment” when requested for a deposit.
- If you’re self-funding, you’ll need to pay a £4,000 tuition deposit before we can issue your CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies).
External Scholarships
We encourage students to explore external scholarships that may be available through organisations, foundations or private sponsors . If you need any supporting documents from us please let us know.

How do transfer students apply?
See the section above for full guidance on how to apply, including all the steps and required documents.
What are the entry requirements for transfer students?
Entry requirements depend on the associate degree you've completed. See the mapped course list above. If your programme isn't listed, you can still apply and we’ll assess your eligibility on a case-by-case basis.
What supporting documents are required for a transfer application?
Transfer applicants should submit their academic transcripts. Additional documents may include evidence of Maths and English at GCSE equivalency (US High School Grade 12 with a GPA of 2.0+/C) and, for creative courses, a portfolio of work. If you haven't yet completed your degree or received your final transcript, you can upload these later via our applicant portal. Our admissions team will guide you on any further requirements once your application has been reviewed.
Are there scholarships available?
Yes, London Met offers scholarships for US transfer students, including the USA Elite Scholarship and International Bright Futures Scholarship. Eligible students may also apply for US Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
What costs should I consider when transferring to London Met?
When planning your transfer, you’ll need to consider several key costs. Start by checking the course page for the latest international tuition fees, and factor in any scholarships you may be eligible for, such as the USA Elite Scholarship.
You should also budget for the cost of living in London, including accommodation, transport, food, and everyday expenses. Keep in mind that accommodation often requires an upfront deposit.
In addition, there are several visa-related costs, including:
- A tuition deposit (part of your overall fee, paid before receiving your CAS, waivered for students fully funded by US financial aid)
- The UK student visa application fee
- The Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS), paid upfront for each year of study
- A biometric appointment fee (if applicable)
- Travel to and from the biometric appointment
- Flights to and from the UK
If you are using US Financial Aid, please note that your first disbursement will only be available after you arrive in the UK. You’ll need to cover your visa, health surcharge, travel, and initial living costs from personal savings.
How can I learn more about the UK education system?
Visit our International Schools and Colleges page for resources on the UK education system, advising tools, and guidance for students interested in studying in the UK.
Can a London Met representatives visit for transfer fairs and sessions?
Yes. Our team plans to attend Santa Ana College’s fall transfer fair and we may also offer additional in-person or virtual information sessions throughout the year.
Can I visit the London Met campus?
