Cass Research Seminar Four

Networks of Making and Habitation, two presentations from Lewis Jones and Mikey Baldwin.

Networks of Making and Habitation

This year's seminar programme will kick off with two presentations from Lewis Jones and Mikey Baldwin, about an instrument maker and a performer. After the two presentations, we will have a panel discussion with a discussant, with the objective of generating new ideas.

They will consider the work, situation, and associations of two immigrants, an instrument maker and a polymath performer, in early nineteenth-century London. Together they consider how networks of makers, designers, artists, engineers, and suppliers of materials contribute to the habitation and making of place; and they inquire into a performative turn in the study of place, design, and material culture, and a material turn in the study of performance.
