Our courses in chemical and pharmaceutical sciences are geared towards providing you with intense laboratory training to equip you for success in your chosen field. Our students gain practical experience in the best standard of facilities, benefitting from access to our £30 million Science Centre, which features a Superlab with more than 280 workstations. The Superlab is one of the largest and most advanced science teaching facilities in Europe and houses specialist laboratories for tissue culture research and microbiology.

Biochemistry - BSc (Hons)
Encompassing the study of the molecular, cellular and physiological bases of life, biochemistry provides insights into many of the problems that have fascinated and perplexed biologists for generations.
Biochemistry Extended Degree - BSc (Hons)
The Biochemistry Extended Degree provides an alternative route into higher education if you can't meet the entry requirements for an undergraduate degree. You'll learn about biological molecules, information transfer and processing in living systems and metabolic processes.
Chemistry - BSc (Hons)
Not just an introduction to the fundamentals of chemistry, this degree provides intensive basic training that is designed to give you the core laboratory, IT and performance skills to succeed in your chosen career.
Chemistry Extended Degree - BSc (Hons)
This extended degree includes a foundation year (Year 0) to provide a necessary scientific background. You'll study in our £30 million Science Centre with the option of work placement modules.
Herbal Medicinal Science (Top-Up) - BSc (Hons)
This is a top-up course available to students of the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. As well as studying additional modules during your time at SUTCM, you'll complete a fourth year through London Met and receive a dual award.
Pharmaceutical Science - BSc (Hons)
Our vocationally oriented course mixes biology and chemistry to examine drug design, targets and delivery. You'll learn how drugs affect the human body through theoretical teaching and lab work.
Pharmaceutical Science Extended Degree - BSc (Hons)
This absorbing extended degree in pharmaceutical science focuses on the effects of different drugs on the human body, and reveals the secrets behind the development of new medicines.
Pharmacology - BSc (Hons)
Pharmacology is the study of drugs, their uses and how they interact with living systems. This practical course will teach you key laboratory and analytical skills in our cutting-edge Science Centre.

The origins of the word pharmacology stem from the Greek word Pharma, meaning drug. Pharmacy is therefore the science and technique of preparing and dispensing drugs produced by pharmacologists to ensure their safe and effective use.
If you are more interested in studying chemistry in particular, our degree course is accredited by the Royal Society of Chemistry.
