AAD Research Forum: A user guide to research funding

Please note this was an internal-only event.

A user guide to research funding
Hosted by CREATURE and CUBE

Jointly hosted by CREATURE and CUBE, this live event provided knowledge of key research funding agencies and offered a range of practical techniques to help you develop a competitive funding application.

As part of the AAD Research Forum series, this live and interactive event explored research funding in practice. The aim was to provide useful information and practical support to staff who are conducting or wish to conduct research. The session opened with a brief introduction to the university's funding strategy with regard to research and an overview of the research funding landscape, with a focus on UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) grants. Activities included presentations and hands-on exercises to help you navigate the funding landscape and plan your next grant application.

We hope that this event contributed to informing the activities of the members of CREATURE and CUBE, our main research centres for Art, Architecture, and Design, and to the diversity of school and university groups and initiatives that make up our collective research landscape, including CLiOH (Centre for Life Writing and Oral History), the GDI (Global Diversity and Inequalities) research centre, and the Finding Ecologies group. All research-active staff at AAD were advised to attend. Staff who were pursuing research in their practice or who were interested in doing so are also warmly invited to attend.

Organisers

The event is convened by Dr Beatrice De Carli (CUBE Deputy Director) in collaboration with Prof. Christian Frost (Head of Research), Prof. Wessie Ling (CREATURE Director), Dr Jacek Ludwig Scarso (CREATURE Deputy Director) and Prof. Matthew Barac (CUBE Director).

The project mindmap made out of posted notes and other papers stuck to the board.
