Joining London Metropolitan University from Cornell College is a supported process, and we're here to guide you every step of the way. Here's how to get started:

1. Choose Your Course

Explore our postgraduate courses and select a programme that aligns with your academic background and future goals.

  • Check the information above to see if your degree has already been mapped through our partnership – this can help fast-track your application.
  • If your degree is not listed, you can still apply and will be assessed based on our standard entry requirements.
  • Review the course page carefully, particularly the modules (classes), to understand what you’ll be studying.
  • All courses start in September, with some programmes also available for entry in January and May.
Please note: if you intend to use US Federal Financial Aid, you can only start in September or January.

2. Submit Your Application

You can apply directly to London Met – it’s free and quick to complete. Simply go to your chosen course page and click “Apply”.

When applying, you’ll need to:

  • Provide your educational history
  • Upload your transcript and certificate (if completed) or submit final transcripts once available
  • Upload a copy of your passport (this can be added later via the applicant portal if needed)
  • When asked, “Are you working with a partner or agent?”, please include the Cornell College partnership code (to be confirmed). This helps us identify you as a Cornell student and provide tailored support.

3. Receive Your Offer

Once reviewed, your application will result in one of two types of offers:

  • A conditional offer means your place is secured, but you'll need to meet specific outstanding requirements (such as completing your associate degree or submitting your final transcript).
  • An unconditional offer means you’ve met all requirements and your place is confirmed.

If you're still completing your studies, you'll typically receive a conditional offer – simply upload your final transcript when it's available.

4. Evidence of Finances and Paying Your Deposit

Before we can issue your CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies), you’ll need to show how you'll fund your studies.

  • If you're using US Federal Aid and are fully funded, the deposit is waived. You’ll need to email your FAFSA Submission (formerly known as SAR) directly to London Met, as we do not receive this automatically. Our Financial Aid Office will issue you an award letter confirming your funding, which you can use as your financial evidence.
  • If you're self-funding, a £4,000 tuition deposit is required before your CAS can be issued. You may need to show how you’ll support yourself while studying, such as by providing personal bank statements.

ScholarshipsUSA Elite Scholarship – US citizens are automatically awarded a £5,500 scholarship per year of study. EU and UK citizens (including dual citizens) may be eligible for our EU Bright Futures and Global British Citizens scholarships. If you are a dual citizen, please upload both passports to your applicant portal to be considered.

5. Receive Your CAS & Apply for Your Visa

Once all documents are approved and your funding confirmed, we’ll issue your CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) – a unique reference number required to apply for your UK student visa.

  • Ensure your passport is valid.
  • Apply online for your UK visa.
  • You can receive guidance and support from our International Advice team throughout the process.
  • Additional costs to be aware of include the UK student visa application fee, the Immigration Health Surcharge (paid in advance for the full duration of your studies – e.g. two years), and travel to a biometrics centre within the USA.

6. Prepare for Arrival

Once your visa is approved, it’s time to plan your move to London!

  • You’ll receive an invite to a pre-departure meeting.
  • You’ll be invited to attend International Orientation.
  • You’ll receive details on enrolment, campus life, and what to expect when you arrive.

We’re excited to welcome you to London and support you every step of the way.

We understand that funding your studies is an important part of your planning – and we’re here to support you throughout the process. London Met offers a range of financial aid options and scholarships to help make your international education more affordable.

USA Bright Futures

All US citizens are automatically eligible for our USA Bright Futures Scholarship, worth £5,500 per year of study. There’s no separate application required – you are assessed at application and the tuition fee discount is demonstrated in your offer letter.

US Financial Aid

Full-time applicants with US citizenship can apply for the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan Program to help cover the cost of tuition and maintenance for eligible courses.

  • Please see our US Finanical Aid page for more detailed information.
  • You must email your FASFA submission (SAR) directly to our Financial Aid Office at usfinancialaid@londonmet.ac.uk – we don’t receive this automatically from FAFSA.
