Why study this course?
Our Law LLB (including foundation year) degree course is designed for students who wish to start a career in the legal industry but may not have the traditional entry qualifications necessary to join our Law LLB course.
This course begins with a foundation year, which will allow you to develop the academic skills, confidence and knowledge to progress onto our LLB Law (Hons) degree, which is an internationally recognised qualification.
By the end of this degree course, you will meet the requirements necessary to train to be a solicitor or barrister, and you will also have the skills and qualifications necessary to pursue a variety of career options in the legal sector.

Learn the skills you need to reach your full potential
This four-year degree course includes an intensive foundation year (Year 0) which will provide you with the skills required for your subsequent three years of study
Course details
In addition to the University's standard entry requirements, the students should have:
- a minimum of grades CCC in three A levels in academic or business subjects (or a minimum of 96 UCAS points from an equivalent Level 3 qualification, eg BTEC National, OCR Diploma or Advanced Diploma)
Accreditation of Prior Learning
Any university-level qualifications or relevant experience you gain prior to starting university could count towards your course at London Met. Find out more about applying for Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL).
English language requirements
To study a degree at London Met, you must be able to demonstrate proficiency in the English language. If you require a Student visa (previously Tier 4) you may need to provide the results of a Secure English Language Test (SELT) such as Academic IELTS. This course requires you to meet our standard requirements.
If you need (or wish) to improve your English before starting your degree, the University offers a Pre-sessional Academic English course to help you build your confidence and reach the level of English you require.
There are diverse assessment methods, depending on which optional modules students elect. These include:
- Traditional closed-book examinations
- Written coursework, including case studies, literature reviews, research proposals and research essays
- Oral presentations, including mooting and negotiation simulations
- Legal writing, including letters of claim, formal advice and negotiation briefing
- Written applications for legal employment, including legal CVs
- Pro Bono assignments
- MCQ tests
- Multi-media portfolios
- Critical research projects
Once you have graduated from this course, you will be well prepared to continue your path towards qualifying as a solicitor or barrister. You could also enter a role in paralegal practice, compliance, human resources, local government, or NGOs, where legal knowledge is highly valued. Past alumni have gone on to work for organisations such as Citizens Advice, local councils, private law firms, and regulatory bodies.
Further study options include the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE), Bar Practice Courses and specialist postgraduate study in fields such as human rights, international trade, or criminology.

When to apply
The University and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS) accepts applications for full-time courses starting in September from one year before the start of the course. Our UCAS institution code is L68.
