Our Filmmaking MA course is a practice-based programme located in the heart of London Met's new creative hub at our Holloway campus. Students will be taught by our academic team with professional experience in filmmaking, as well as industry guests in our state-of-art media facilities, which includes dedicated M4 Mac editing suites, professional foley, sound recording studios, and our purpose-built film studio with RED Digital Cinema camera.

Course details
You will be required to have:
- A lower second-class honours degree or higher, or an international equivalent
Alternatively, your application will be considered if you have an equivalent relevant professional experience and strong interest in wanting to develop your skills as a filmmaker.
Accreditation of Prior Learning
Any university-level qualifications or relevant experience you gain prior to starting university could count towards your course at London Met. Find out more about applying for Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL).
English language requirements
To study a degree at London Met, you must be able to demonstrate proficiency in the English language. If you require a Student visa (previously Tier 4) you may need to provide the results of a Secure English Language Test (SELT) such as Academic IELTS. This course requires you to meet our standard requirements.
If you need (or wish) to improve your English before starting your degree, the University offers a Pre-sessional Academic English course to help you build your confidence and reach the level of English you require.
This master’s degree is mainly practice-based, so you’ll be assessed through written project proposals and film work for each module. The Major Projects module gives you the opportunity to develop a substantial film project throughout the course, which you’ll complete and submit in September.
The Filmmaking MA will prepare student for work in a wide range of professions within the film and creative media industries. Some of the top-level roles our graduates have progresses to in features, TV, drama, documentaries, music videos include:
- Directing
- Editing
- Cinematography
Successfully completing this course can also be an excellent gateway into a wide range of media entry-level roles such as:
- Feature film production assistant
- Production management in drama and documentary
- Digital content creator
