Injury and rehab clinic organises pop-up at local 5k run

The clinic’s sports therapists will be providing the runners with expert injury advice.

Date: 16 July 2021

Therapists working within London Met’s Injury and Rehabilitation Clinic will be present at a five-kilometre evening running festival at Finsbury Park, organised by London Heathside Athletics Club, on 16 July 2021.

The Injury and Rehab clinic team, led by Raffaella Pontonutti, Senior Lecturer in Sports Therapy BSc, will be providing expert injury advice to the runners taking part on how to prevent common running-related injuries, how to improve performance and how reoccurring injuries can be treated.

They will also be discussing specific injuries a runner might have, giving them a diagnosis, and for every runner they speak to, they will be gifted a special discount on treatments the clinic offers.

Rashaun Brown, a Clinical Sports Therapist within the clinic, said: “Running alone causes several injuries to the joints, so advising runners on strengthening muscles is vital for both prevention and treatment of injuries.

“It is exciting to provide advice at a running event as it increases the chances of booking patients into the clinic as well as enhancing my knowledge and confidence. And of course, it’s always nice to help people.”
