"Art saved my life" former Cass student to appear on BBC Radio 4

David Tovey to appear in a documentary called Outsiders.

Date: 7 September 2018

Former Cass student David Tovey will appear in a new programme in BBC Radio 4's 'The Art of Now' documentary strand on Sunday.

The half-hour show, Outsiders, which will be broadcast on Sunday, explores how open the established art world is to outsiders. Leading a discussion exploring activism, exploitation, preconception and power, David’s words will have an astounding effect on the listener.

David Tovey who studied at London Met in 2012 is a celebrated photographer, painter, installation artist and performance-maker.

One of his most recent projects includes his artwork, which was featured on the front cover of The Big Issue royal wedding edition.

Despite his fantastic career, it hasn’t always been an easy road for David. Having experienced homelessness, homophobia and two attempted suicides, his artwork has remained a symbol of his ongoing recovery.

Outsiders will be broadcast this Sunday at 1.30pm and will be available to listen online shortly afterwards.
