Skills and simulation suite

Our skills and simulation suite, which opened in 2023, provides high-quality simulated experiences for our health sciences courses. The suite provides learning facilities that put you in real world scenarios, giving you the opportunity to develop the skills you’ll need in real-life settings.

The suite offers a range of environments, including a hospital ward that is much bigger than a traditional hospital ward to allow more room to practise and build your skills, an intensive care unit, a paediatric ward and a paediatric intensive care unit – all of which provide you with the opportunity to build your skills in a clinical environment. In addition to the more conventional medical settings, there are home environments with functioning kitchens to give you the opportunity to build your confidence in a community-focused setting, with a flat that also caters to assisted living needs.

The skills and simulation suite also boasts an immersive 'igloo’, which functions as a 360-degree versatile blank canvas, capable of transporting students into various scenarios, from a roadside emergency to a hospital ward, using projection and virtual reality technology. In this room, you can also learn about anatomy, physiology and laboratory techniques.
