Meeting Irish Minister for the Diaspora
Date: 20 October 2022

Professor Louise Ryan and Grainne McPolin were invited to attend a reception at the Irish Embassy, London on 20 October 2022, as part of the Irish Government Emigrant Support Programme. The event brought together all the organisations across Britain who have received funding from the Irish government's Irish Abroad Unit. Louise and Grainne are recipients of this funding for their oral history project with Irish Nurses in the NHS. The reception was addressed by the Irish Ambassador Mr Martin Frazer and by the Minister for Diaspora Colm Brophy. Minister Brophy made specific mention of the Irish nurses project during his speech. His mother had been a nurse who migrated to train in Liverpool in the 1950s.
