Dr Lukasz Kaczmarek delivered a lecture at the Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok last month.
Date: 15 November 2017
Senior lecturer on the BA Translation and MA Translation, Dr Lukasz Kaczmarek, delivered a talk at the Centre of Translation and Interpretation, Faculty of Arts, Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok on 29 October 2017.
Its focus was for Dr Kaczmarek to present his most recent research findings concerning pragmatic positioning in the discussion of community interpreter roles.
Drawing on his research, he argued that the current debate on the topic fails to include considerations linked to perceptions of participants engaged in triadic exchanges. He further explained that these perceptions are by no means random and some correspondence can be observed between a perception of community interpreter role and participants' respective goals.
The lecture was open to the Bangkok public and was well attended by researchers and practitioners alike.
