London Met has risen to 85th place in The Guardian's 2024 University Rankings.

Date: 11 September 2023

The Guardian's University Rankings are one of the most respected for UK higher education. London Met's rise of 19 places is driven by its strong performance in the National Student Survey (NSS) for which it received the 15th highest overall positivity score, 82.8%, in the country, according to analysis by the Times Higher Education.

Within the overall score, The Guardian has included course-specific analysis to highlight different subject areas, providing comparative rankings to offer guidance for prospective students in choosing their desired area of study.

London Met’s Nutrition and Food Science course has been positioned 2nd in the country, alongside the Interior Design course which is 4th according to the league table. The Business and Management and Biomedical Science courses are ranked in the top third of UK courses.

Julie Hall, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) at London Met said: "While we acknowledge and celebrate our progress, our vision extends beyond rankings. We are committed to ongoing enhancement of the student experience and transforming outcomes.

“Thanks to our strong financial performance, we have been able to make significant investments in both our physical estate and digital infrastructure, which will further improve the experience for our students.”

The NSS captured student feedback across pivotal areas, including teaching, learning opportunities, academic support, and resources.

London Metropolitan University's commitment to its 'Education for Social Justice Framework' stands central to its ethos. The institution remains dedicated to providing an inclusive environment, with a notable emphasis on supporting students that are traditionally under-represented at universities. This commitment is further exemplified by endeavours such as the London Met Labs, fostering academic-community partnerships to address London's disparities.

In summary, while rankings provide a measurable insight into institutional progress, London Met's focus remains steadfast: to offer an outstanding educational experience rooted in social justice, inclusivity, and innovation.
