Clerkenwell Design Week

Cass furniture students exhibiting their work at two events during celebrated annual design festival.

Date: 21 May 2018

Students from Furniture and Product Design BA and Furniture FdA courses at The Cass are taking part in two exhibitions during Clerkenwell Design Week 2018 which form the culmination of live project briefs they enjoyed as part of their studies.

The Kite Party at BDP is an exhibition of the live project undertaken with BDP (the Building Design Partnership) and sponsored by Camira Fabrics who provided the materials for the Kites. The famous Bauhaus Kite Parties have provided the inspiration for the designs at this event which is open 11am to 6pm during the festival. See a short film of the students at work here.

Up in the Clouds is an exhibition of products created during a live project brief from Collaborate London, Verco Office Furniture and Perkins and Will (Architectural Practice) challenging students to design furniture and products for the office of the future keeping in mind cradle to cradle philosophy. The exhibition takes place as part of Platform at the subterranean House of Detention, a show that recognises some of the world’s most exciting up-and-coming design talent. Read more about the Up in the Clouds Project here and get a preview of the student work on the Clerkenwell Design Week website.

Clerkenwell Design Week is the UK's leading independent design festival taking place in EC1, the heart and home of design in London. The Cass has been involved with the festival since its inception 2011, when the school was official educational partner. The event is free to attend but you must register in advance.
