BA HRM students consider career choices in lunch & learn employability session

Lunch and Learn sessions for students

Date: 13/11/2014

The HRM team has run another successful ‘lunch & learn’ employability session, this time on the subject of working in learning and development in local authorities and/or as an interim manager. Martin Tremaine, a learning and development expert whose background includes working as an interim and in local authorities, explained that such diverse sounding careers are not necessarily mutually exclusive.

The BA HRM students who attended not only heard about careers in these fields but also discussed what motivated them in their career choices, including such issues as: flexibility/work-life balance; job security; total reward; and the social side of work. Martin explained that all these factors need to be taken into account in making their career choices.

The BA HRM runs monthly ‘lunch & learn’ employability sessions for students at all levels of the course. Students benefit from hearing from expert speakers as well as having the chance to network and share experiences.
