In addition to the University's standard entry requirements, you should have:

• a minimum of BCC in three A levels (or a minimum of 104 UCAS points from an equivalent Level 3 qualification)
• English language and mathematics GCSEs at grade C/4 or above (or equivalent)
• an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
• been assessed by an approved occupational health provider as a condition of enrolment 

You will also be required to pass an interview, during which you will need to demonstrate values that promote compassion, dignity and respect.

You must also receive satisfactory health clearance from our approved occupational health provider, confirming you are able to study and work safely as a student nurse in a range of health and social care environments.

Accreditation of Prior Learning

English language requirements

To study a degree at London Met, you must be able to demonstrate proficiency in the English language. If you require a Student visa (previously Tier 4) you may need to provide the results of a Secure English Language Test (SELT) such as Academic IELTS. This course requires you to meet our standard requirements.

If you need (or wish) to improve your English before starting your degree, the University offers a Pre-sessional Academic English course to help you build your confidence and reach the level of English you require.

You will be?assessed through a range of different assessment methods, which will prepare you for nursing environments, such as:  

• Skills?assessment in real-time placement and simulated practice settings  
• Oral seminars
• Poster presentations
• Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCE) 
• Case studies
• Practical reports
• Seen/unseen examinations and in-class?tests
• Literature reviews and essays

You will be supported throughout your assessments by our teaching staff, who can also signpost you to the appropriate student services for help with any health, financial, disability or dyslexia-related needs that may impact their studies.

This course is subject to approval by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), the professional regulator for nursing in the UK. London Metropolitan University is an approved education institution (AEI) for nursing, with established NMC-approved adult nursing and mental health nursing degree courses.

Subject to successful NMC approval and successful completion of the course, you'll be eligible to apply for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a Registered Nurse (Children).

On successful completion of this course and registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), you'll be able to work as a Registered Nurse (Children), caring for children, young people and their families across a range of healthcare settings.

Your children’s nursing qualification will prepare you for opportunities across NHS, community, private, independent, voluntary and charitable healthcare organisations. You may work in settings including hospitals, primary care, community services, specialist children's services and services supporting young people and families.

The course also provides a strong foundation for continued professional development, leadership, advanced practice, education, research and further postgraduate study throughout your nursing career.

If you study your undergraduate degree with us, as a graduate of London Met, you'll be entitled to a 20% discount on a postgraduate course if you continue your studies with us.

The costs of these are additional to your tuition fee and the fees set out above and will be notified when the activity is being arranged.
