Services for schools and colleges

The book of activities for schools and colleges

The Schools and Colleges team runs a range of activities designed to highlight the benefits of Higher Education (HE) in a fun and interesting way. Please read through the brochure to find out more.

We also provide support to teachers to ensure they have all the information they need to help their students make the right choices about their future. We host networking events so teachers can meet academics and internal service providers who offer non-academic support.

We are happy to arrange bespoke visits upon request. We work with students as young as Year 10 all the way up to Year 13. Our programme consists of a number of different free activities to engage your students either on campus or at your premises.

Alongside our long-term projects, we offer a wide range of activities to local schools and colleges.

Experience university days (Years 7-11)

University days are entirely bespoke to meet your pupil’s needs and allow them to explore what university is all about and meet current university students. Popular sessions include campus tours, study skills workshops, student life talks, meet-a-student, ‘University Challenge’ quiz, taster lectures, mock seminars and choosing your GCSEs.

Subject-specific taster days (Years 9-13)

Held on campus, we can run full- or half-day taster courses focused on a single academic area. Recent taster days have included those focused on biology and chemistry, sports sciences, travel and tourism, maths and computing.

We have mentors trained in mentoring and safeguarding (Enhanced DBS checked), who are able to visit local schools and colleges to provide support for students. This mentoring may be either academic or pastoral. For more detail please see our mentoring webpage.

Academic lectures and workshops at your institution

We have a team of expert academics who can visit your school or college to lead interesting workshops on almost all our academic areas. This can be bespoke to your school's needs and a member of the team can help advise you on available topics.

University talks and workshops at your school / college

We run a very popular set of staff and student ambassador-led interactive workshops, which are flexible and can run between 30 minutes and two hours each, depending on schools' requirements, age group and class size.

  • UCAS and personal statements
  • student finance/budgeting
  • why go to university?
  • choosing your A-levels/alternative Level 3 qualifications
  • student life/adapting to university

To discuss any of the above activities further, or if you have a different activity in mind, please contact us to speak with a member of the team.
