Number of students with learning and mental health disabilities

To Whom it concerns,

I write to make a request for all the information to which I am entitled under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

Please provide me with the following information for the academic year 2017/2018:

1. How many male, female, UG, PG, home, EU and international students with a Specific Learning Disability/Difference (SpLD) are registered with your Disability and Well-being Service?  

2. How many male, female, UG, PG, home, EU and international students with a mental health condition are registered with your Disability and Well-being Service? 

3. How many male, female, UG, PG, home, EU and international students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) are registered with your Disability and Well-being Service? 

4. How is ADHD categorized within your Disability and Well-being Service? Is it categorized as a SpLD, mental health disorder, both a SpLD and mental health disorder, or not categorized?

5. How many male, female, UG, PG, home, EU and international students with ADHD are registered with your Disability and Well-being Service?  

6. How many male, female, UG and PG students with ADHD are in receipt of a Disabled Student’s Allowance (DSA)? 

7. How do your students with ADHD get access to medical treatment? Are they referred to a GP, referred directly to a specialist psychiatrist, or there is no referral policy.

I write further to your request for information dated 21 January 2019. This request has been handled by the University in accordance with its duties and obligations under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 ("FOIA"). 
 
You requested details of:
 

For the academic year 2017/2018:

1. How many male, female, UG, PG, home, EU and international students with a Specific Learning Disability/Difference (SpLD) are registered with your Disability and Well-being Service?  

428 students registered with our service with a SpLD. We do not record  UG, PG male, female, home, EU or international.

2. How many male, female, UG, PG, home, EU and international students with a mental health condition are registered with your Disability and Well-being Service? 

286 students registered with our service with a mental health condition. We do not record  UG, PG male, female, home, EU or international. 

3. How many male, female, UG, PG, home, EU and international students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) are registered with your Disability and Well-being Service? 

25 students registered with our service with ASD. We do not record  UG, PG male, female, home, EU or international.  

4. How is ADHD categorized within your Disability and Well-being Service? Is it categorized as a SpLD, mental health disorder, both a SpLD and mental health disorder, or not categorized?

It sits in the SPLD category although has a separate listing.  

5. How many male, female, UG, PG, home, EU and international students with ADHD are registered with your Disability and Well-being Service?  

26 students registered with our service with ADHD.  

6. How many male, female, UG and PG students with ADHD are in receipt of a Disabled Student’s Allowance (DSA)?
