The Inside Out: Roundtable Discussion brought together a range of speakers working at the intersection of public art, nature, and mental well-being.

About this event

The Inside Out: Roundtable Discussion brought together a range of speakers working at the intersection of public art, nature, and mental wellbeing. Introductory presentations on the history of The Line and its recent Nature in Mind programme will be given by Sarah Carrington and Sheyamali Sudesh from The Line and Aisha Johnson and Sarah Hyland from Mind in Tower Hamlets and Newham. Then invited speakers will participate in a discussion chaired by Dr Jacek Ludwig Scarso, The Line Trustee and Reader in Art and Performance at London Metropolitan University. A drinks reception will take place between 7.45 and 8.30pm, offering an opportunity for audience members to continue the conversation informally.

Confirmed speakers include:

  • Farzana Khan, Executive Director and Co-founder of Healing Justice London
  • Dr Zoe Moula, Lecturer in Mental Health at Kings College London
  • Melissa Moore, artist and Course Director at London College of Fashion
  • Menka Sanghvi, mindfulness researcher and Senior Advisor at the Mindfulness Institute

This event is part of a three-day public programme, Inside Out: Public Art, Nature and Mental Wellbeing. Inside Out builds on Madge Gill: Nature in Mind, a multi-site exhibition of the late Newham-based artist’s work and a series of creative workshops in collaboration with Mind. Focusing on the link between nature and mental health, The Line seeks to facilitate dialogues between artists, cultural organisations, and mental health specialists through an engaging three-day programme that consists of creative activities, site visits and a roundtable discussion. This programme would not have been possible without the support of our partners and funders, London Metropolitan University, Mind Tower Hamlets and Newham, National Lottery Heritage Fund, St William, Oak Foundation, Royal Docks Team, London Borough of Newham, London Legacy Development Cooperation and Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
