Prof. Louise Ryan, Grainne McPolin and Neha Doshi presented the findings of their research on Irish Nurses in the NHS to a group of MPs and other interested stakeholders at the House of Commons.
The meeting was hosted by MP Kevin McKenna, who is a former nurse.
Many MPs with nursing and/ or Irish backgrounds attended the meeting to discuss how to celebrate and commemorate those pioneering Irish nurses who came in their thousands to work in the NHS during the early decades (1940s-50s).
Other participants at the meeting included Eamonn Sullivan, Deputy Chief Nurse, and Stephen Jones from the Royal College of Nursing.
