Building Transnational Synergy Through Research Collaboration: A UK-Pakistan Partnership Project

This twelve-month Transnational Education (TNE) project is led by Professor Preeti Patel and Dr Bilal Hassan, School of Computing and Digital Media at London Metropolitan University, in collaboration with several institutions in Pakistan.

About

The British Council, via its TNE Exploratory Grants, aims to support institutional partnerships and foster collaborative efforts between the UK and countries such as Pakistan. The goal is to accelerate the internationalisation of higher education and enable partners to work together towards shared academic progress.

The funded project, titled “Transnational Synergy: Enhancing UK-Pakistan Academic & Research Collaboration through Co-authorship, Remote PhD, and Women’s Empowerment”, is designed to address critical challenges in academic collaboration between the UK and Pakistan.

Specifically, the project focuses on the declining number of co-authored publications between academics from both countries, the limited opportunities for Pakistani faculty to pursue remote PhDs, and the pressing need to increase the involvement of women researchers.

Project Partners

The project partners include a diverse selection of Pakistani institutions: Thal University Bhakkar and The Women University Multan, both located in underprivileged regions, while the latter is an all-women’s institution; along with Air University Islamabad from the capital territory; and the Perspective Policy Research Institute, a dedicated research organization.
