Meck Xayavongsa from the United States discusses her experience of studying the MSc in Public Health course at London Met, made possible by her International Students House and London Met scholarship.

What did receiving this scholarship mean to you?

Receiving this scholarship meant everything to me that words couldn't express. I'm so thankful to have received this scholarship because I know that not everybody has these opportunities. I also know this scholarship means a lot to my parents as they were unable to complete school.

What do you like best about your course

The fact that my module leaders are so supportive. I also enjoy my course because it allows me to exchange ideas with people from different occupational and education backgrounds.

Does anything surprise you about your course or London Met?

Yes, the marking criteria for courses surprised me.

What do you like about life in London?

I like living in London because it tailors to my needs during this stage in my life pretty well! There are many events that take place here. I also enjoy how London promotes a healthy lifestyle for people with its well-created sidewalks and cycling lanes. I don't mind walking to places because it's one way to see a part of the city and it's a beautiful city!

What are your career plans once you complete your course?

My aspirations include returning back to the United States and hopefully working within health policy for a non-profit organization.
