French International Trade and Finance MSc student Loic Juan discusses his decision to move to London to further his studies at London Met.

Where are you from and why did you decide to study at London Met?

I am from Nice in France, and one of my friends recommended London Met to me as a good place to study before I moved to London.

Why did you want to study in London?

I thought it was the best place in Europe to both improve my English and study an international trade and finance course. Plus, it’s not far from France so it's quite easy to book a flight and spend a weekend with my family or friends in France and vice-versa.

How did you find it moving to another country?

It is definitely worth it and the best experience so far in my life. It was scary at first, but a lot of people were happy to help. I was surprised how people understand that English is not your first language and they often adapt to you. Because London is so multicultural and diverse people are used to non-native English speakers.

What has been your favourite part of your course?

So far, I have really enjoyed the International Corporate Finance and the Financial Derivatives and Risk Management modules on my course.

What do you hope to do after graduation?

I am currently working part-time as an assistant shop manager alongside my studies. After I graduate I hope to start my career as soon as possible. I am looking for a position in a finance department of a multinational company. Working as a junior consultant for a consulting firm would be a great career start too.

What would you say to an international student considering a degree with London Met?

London Met is a great place to land if you are looking for a perfect London student experience. You will find outstanding lecturers as well as friendly staff who are always there to help. The campus offers both cosy places to relax between lectures and well-equipped libraries to study. One of the best features I liked was the Bloomberg terminal availability which is quite scarce in other universities. 100% recommended experience!
