Gerry McDonald CBE and Sanam Arora bring exceptional experience and insight to support the university's mission.

London Metropolitan University is pleased to announce the appointment of Gerry McDonald CBE and Sanam Arora to its Board of Governors. Both bring a wealth of experience and a strong commitment to the university’s mission of transforming lives through education.
Gerry McDonald is the Group Principal and CEO of New City College, a long-standing partner of London Met. He has overseen its growth into one of London’s largest further education providers through a series of successful mergers. With over 30 years in the sector, Gerry is a qualified business studies teacher and continues to teach A Level and BTEC business. He was awarded a CBE in the 2025 New Year Honours for services to further education.
Sanam Arora is the founder and Chair of the National Indian Students and Alumni Union UK (NISAU), the leading voice for Indian students in the United Kingdom. She is an award-winning advocate for international students and works as a senior consultant in the investment management sector, advising top firms on strategy and transformation.
