Rewild My Street releases wildlife guide for National Park City

The free 'Wild Makeover Guide', with five beautifully illustrated activities, helps you to start greening your home

Date: 08 August 2019

Siân Moxon, senior lecturer and sustainability coordinator at The Cass and founder of Rewild My Street, has created a Wild Makeover Guide to mark the opening of the historic London National Park City, which launched 22 July 2019.

The guide, which features illustrations by Illustration BA graduate Nadia Mokadem, explains how people can adapt their homes, gardens and streets to encourage wildlife, integrating wildlife features into a typical urban setting.

Siân said: “We issued our Wild Makeover Guide at an event during National Park City Festival. It was sent to all subscribers of the Rewild My Street website, and anyone who signs up from now on will automatically get a copy.

“The guide was a good opportunity for wider collaboration on the project - both with other disciplines within the Cass, by working with an illustration student, and with ecologists Eight Associates. “

The guide developed from a suggestion by Accelerator, London Met’s specialist business incubator, after the Rewild My Street project was a finalist in last year’s Big Idea Challenge staff category and was funded by Accelerator and the Cass.

Siân attended the launch of the London National Park City, saying: “It was exciting to witness London become the world's first National Park City at City Hall and to sign the London National Park City Charter.

“There were great speakers, including an endorsement from Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London, and a sense of real optimism and collaborative spirit to take this vision forward.”
