Professor Ryan will build links between London Met and her alma mater, particularly among scholars interested in Ireland.

Date: 26 October 2020

Professor Louise Ryan has been invited to become a visiting professor at University College Cork (UCC) in Ireland. Professor Ryan is an alumna of UCC, having moved from the institution to the UK in the 1990s.

She said: “I am delighted to have been appointed a visiting Professor in my old department of Sociology.

"I have many happy memories of my time as an undergraduate and a postgraduate student at UCC, and I’m really looking forward to working with collaborating with the excellent scholars there and building links between our two institutions.”

This invitation reflects Professor Ryan's contribution to sociological research over the last few decades, especially her work on migration.

The post provides an important opportunity to develop stronger connections between London Metropolitan University and University College Cork, in particular for academics in London Met's new Global Diversities and Inequalities Research Centre (GDIRC), of which Professor Ryan is the director, to connect to researchers with shared interests in Ireland.
