Dr Simon Jones, an alumnus of London Met, will join the Faculty in April 2016.

London Metropolitan University has appointed Dr Simon Jones as the new Dean of the Guildhall Faculty of Business and Law.
Dr Jones, an alumnus of the University, was previously Associate Dean of Leeds Beckett University’s faculty of business and law. He is also a Reviewer and Appeals Panel Member for the Quality Assurance Agency, and has over 20 years’ academic experience in Higher Education.
One of Dr Jones’ first tasks will be to oversee the successful relocation of Guildhall Faculty of Business and Law to its new home in Islington, as part of the University’s £125m One Campus, One Community project.
Dr Jones said: “I am thoroughly excited about returning to London Met and helping to contribute to its important social mission. Guildhall Faculty of Business and Law has transformed thousands of peoples’ lives over the years, and I am looking forward to building on that success and developing a future vision for the Faculty in Islington.”
Dr Jones has a PhD from the University of Hull, and is a Chartered Geographer and Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society. He has particular interest in tourism and the environment.

Dr Jones will succeed Professor Stephen Perkins, who has played a key role in the Faculty’s success during his time at the helm.
“As a graduate of London Met, I’m really looking forward to returning to the University and seeing how it has changed,” added Dr Jones. “I thoroughly believe in London Met’s mission to transform lives through excellent education, and I’m very much looking forward to taking up my post.”
Dr Jones will take up his position in April 2016.
