Date: 01 July 2020

London Met is delighted to welcome Dr Elizabeth Opara to our community, who will join the University as Head of the School of Human Sciences.

Dr Opara is currently the Head of Applied and Human Sciences at Kingston University. During her time in this role, she has led her team to achieve excellent results including delivering strong results in the National Student Survey (NSS), narrowing the degree-awarding gaps; and strengthening the links and engagement with employers which contributed to improvements in student employability, student progression and the student experience overall.

Dr Opara has said about her appointment: "I identify with the University’s vision and core values, which communicate the pride with which it views and embraces its very cosmopolitan student community, and hardworking and committed staff. I am very much looking forward to joining the University and working in partnership with colleagues and students in the School of Human Sciences."

Throughout the appointment process, Dr Una Fairbrother has been the acting Head of School and will continue in the role until Dr Opara arrives.
