London Metropolitan University has been named one of the best universities to attend if you want to become a CEO or a company director.

A new study, carried out by Hitachi Capital Invoice Finance, analysed data from over 8.4 million alumni who had left 121 UK universities since the year 2000 and had gone on to become either CEOs or Managing Directors, or to found their own business.

They found that London Met, with just over 1 in 10 (11.49%) alumni going on to become CEOs or MDs, was the sixth best university in the country for budding business leaders.

This follows a previous study by the same organisation, which found that London Met was the tenth best in the country for entrepreneurs, in large part due to the success of Accelerator, London Met’s business incubator, over the last 15 years.

Neelam Thapar, Head of Careers and Employability at London Met said, "London Met is full of vibrant, committed and inclusive students, and we’re delighted that so many go on to find successful careers in leadership roles.

"The Careers and Employability team are always on hand to help students develop the knowledge, skills and experience to become confident about making informed decisions to build a rewarding career. We offer guidance appointments, job and volunteering opportunities, advice and webinars on a range of careers topics, and events with fantastic interactive resources to help you in your career planning, applications, interviews, assessment centres and skills development."

Simon Boot, Head of Accelerator said, "This shows that the advice and support we give to entrepreneurial students and alumni is having a profound effect. Accelerator is unique in that we bring established businesses and student entrepreneurs together under one roof, enabling a community of successful business founders to support, mentor and inspire those beginning their journey."

Current students who would like to speak to the Careers Team about their future, whether as business leaders or otherwise, can reach out to them on careers@londonmet.ac.uk.
