Commercial insight for current students

Students and staff were treated recently to a fascinating guest talk delivered by visiting professor, Mark Beatson, chief economist at the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).
Mark’s talk focused on the very topical issue of employee engagement. With his background in economics, Mark approached the topic from an evidence-based perspective. The talk was interesting, stimulating and rigorous and Mark supplied some unique data sets from recent research (by the CIPD and others) which helped support the idea of a business case argument for employer interventions aimed at building employee engagement.
The talk was followed by a question and answer session which opened up some interesting debates between students and the panel. Overall, it was an enjoyable and informative evening.
