Dates announced for London Met's 2023 Summer Shows

Students from the School of Art, Architecture and Design will showcase their talent with a season of summer events.

Date: 10 May 2023

The main exhibition will see graduating students from all disciplines display their work across the University's Aldgate campus. Leading up to the show is a rich programme of events that reflect the breadth and diversity of the School’s creative output.

Final year Theatre Arts students will showcase their festival 'bLink' on 25 to 27 May at Shoreditch Town Hall.

This year’s Graduate Fashion Show, 'The End of Fashion' will take place on Thursday 8 June in the Wash Houses, Aldgate.

Students from all Art, Architecture and Design courses will then exhibit their work at the main Summer Show from 21 June to 1 July, with a private view on Tuesday 20 June from 4pm to 9pm. The annual Summer Show private view event is the biggest in the University calendar, regularly attracting 2,000 people on opening night to celebrate the success of our graduating students.

The private view on 20 June will open from 4pm for friends and family, during which there will be presentations of student prizes. The show will then be open to all from 6pm onwards. The exhibition areas will be Goulston Street (Architecture, Creative Writing and English Literature, Interiors, and Visual Communication courses), the Wash Houses (Fashion, Fashion Textiles, Furniture and Product Design, and Textiles), Calcutta House (Foundation and Upholstery), and the Annexe (Fine Art, Fashion Photography, and Photography).

During the show period there will be a variety of other events. The School will invite gallerists to a VIP preview lunch on 20 June and businesses and practitioners to an employers' and partners’ breakfast on 22 June as an opportunity to speak with graduates about their work.

We will also host our first annual celebration of the designers, makers and innovators that contribute to London’s enduring reputation as one of the world’s greatest design capitals. 'Making London' on 29 June will provide a platform for creative practitioners at the forefront of creative thought and innovation to share their experiences, insights, and inspirations, whilst discussing the impact of making on society.

A City of London livery company awards ceremony for upholstery students will also take place in Aldgate on 5 July at 6pm.

An exhibition celebrating the history of the textile and garment industry in Aldgate by students on the Public Art and Performance MA will take place throughout July, as part of the London Festival of Architecture, at Toynbee Hall. Artwork from a series of public workshops led by the students will form part of an evolving exhibition, based in and around ciaociao design's installation for the London Festival of Architecture. Workshops will take place on Friday, 7 July and Saturday, 8 July and on the following week on 14 and 15 July, with a closing performance and celebration on the weekend of 22 July.

And the celebration of our Summer Shows will continue into September with the Postgraduate and Research Exhibition – dates to be announced soon.
