Criminology courses in the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities have received excellent feedback in the 2014 National Student Survey (NSS). For the third time in four years Criminology tops the national average (86%) for NSS ratings. Particularly pleasing, this year, were the high ratings BSc Criminology scored regarding teaching and personal development. Students on this course rated their overall satisfaction at 91% and 93% respectively.
Most pleasing to the criminology team, who also teach on a variety of other highly rated degrees (Criminology and Psychology, Criminology and Sociology, Criminology and Youth Studies, Criminology and Law and Criminology and Community Policing) were the positive comments made by students about their teaching and learning experience.
"Being a criminology student enabled me to develop a greater understanding of perceptions and impact of crime. The course touched upon every element of criminology; from learning how to conduct our own social research and exploring reasons why one may commit crime. Overall, the course has been very good and I would certainly recommend it to anyone who is apprehensive about studying criminology at London Metropolitan University. Best three years of my life!" "The course (Criminology) provided me with valuable educational skills to take forward into my working life. As well as this, it has broadened my knowledge about the world we live and helped me to see things from an educated perspective. I feel the skills I have learnt at London Met will be a part of my success in the future. Not only this, but the diversity of nationalities at London Met has educated me on various customs and beliefs I was not familiar with before I began my studies. This diversity will help tremendously in future working environments."

"In terms of teaching at the university I couldn’t have asked for more. I am thoroughly delighted with my experience at this university. The lecturers and the tutors want you to succeed; it’s as if it was them studying for a degree all over again. I came to this university with doubt but leave with pride and delight. Truly a world class institution that does not receive the credit it deserves."
