Chevening Scholar Joins Sports Management Course

Joon Cheol Park joins MA Sports Management Course

Date: 17/12/2014

Joon Cheol Park is from Seoul, Korea and completed his Bachelor of Secondary Education in 2012 at Benguet State University in the Philippines. In his second year of college he volunteered to coach the local church football team and discovered his passion for coaching and managing a football team.

After he graduated from university Joon Cheol went on to organise a football academy in the Philippines and opened up a sports shop. The football academy was free for all children and profits from the sports shop were used to provide the children with equipment and kit.

To improve his knowledge of management and coaching he enrolled in the England FA’s Level 1 and 2 football coaching course. This course led Joon Cheol to apply for London Met’s MA Sports Management course, for which he was awarded a Chevening Scholarship. This scholarship is the UK government’s global scholarship programme and is funded by the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organisations. It is awarded to outstanding scholars with leadership potential from around the world to study postgraduate courses at universities in the UK. Joon Cheol started his course at London Met in the autumn semester of 2014.
