Fine Art Graduate has presented his first solo exhibition at Cavespace, London
Date: 8 March 2018
Cass alumnus Gabriel Andreu presented his first solo exhibition at the Cavespace in London, earlier this month.
Gabriel, who graduated in Fine Art BA at The Cass in 2012, presented ‘Emaskulate’, a humorous exploration of masculinity and the ideals of male perfection in today’s culture.
Gabriel said: “Emaskulate draws comparisons between the Greek Herculean ideals of male perfection and their contemporary counterpart: the muscled Hollywood superheroes.
“Questioning the concept of masculinity has been a constant theme for me. The social construction of masculinity exists within our culture and coerces men into being something that they are not; they learn to arrest their emotions and natural expression of their feelings.”
The work is a continuation of a project he developed in his first year at London Met.
Gabriel’s work is available to view online.
