London Metropolitan University is excited to announce that we are a participating institution in the Sir John Cass's Foundation Lord Mayor's Scholarship programme. This programme presents 1st year undergraduate students with an opportunity to apply for a scholarship worth up to £7,000 per year (although the panel does reserve the right to award smaller amounts if it sees fit) for a maximum of three years.
To meet the eligibility criteria applicants must be:
- aged under 25 on 1st September immediately before starting an undergraduate degree.
- enrolled on a full time 1st year undergraduate course in the academic area decided each year (2014 was STEM courses)
- a permanent resident of one of the following London boroughs and have lived there for at least one year: Camden; City of London; City of Westminster; Greenwich; Hackney; Hammersmith and Fulham; Islington; Kensington and Chelsea; Lambeth; Lewisham; Newham; Southwark; Tower Hamlets; or Wandsworth
- eligible for student support and have been assessed by Student Finance England as having a residual household income of £42,620 a year or less.
The panel will also consider other disadvantages, such as overcrowding; single parents families; disabilities etc. connections to Cass institutions; examination results; previous attendance and academic progress; studentship; ability to help themselves (part-time work or voluntary work); and approaches to other organisations.
