Student Changemakers is a new initiative designed to support students as leaders of change within equity, diversity and inclusion work at London Met.
Why Student Changemakers?
London Met has a strong history of student engagement and partnership. Student Changemakers builds on this work by creating a dedicated space for students to explore ideas, develop confidence and contribute to projects connected to inclusion, belonging and social justice.
Student Changemakers forms part of the Centre for Equity and Inclusion’s commitment to building a more inclusive university community, as outlined in the CEI Plan 2025–27.
It also connects with London Met’s work around Education for Social Justice, supporting approaches where students are recognised as active contributors to learning, culture and institutional development.
What is Student Changemakers?
The Student Changemakers programme has been co-designed with students as a genuinely student-led opportunity. It empowers students to identify issues that matter to them, develop their own ideas and lead projects that create positive change within the University and wider community.
Going beyond traditional student partnership, Changemakers gives students ownership of identifying, developing and delivering their own projects, rather than simply advising on existing initiatives.
"Students should have ownership of identifying, creating and implementing their own projects."
