Coming to University FAQs

It's been wonderful to welcome our students back to campus, with all teaching happening in person.

Remember, we are now operating a test-to-access policy to keep our communities safe. This means students and staff are now required to show evidence of a negative Covid test from within the past three days in order to access campus facilities. Order free Covid tests from the NHS.

We also highly recommend that everyone wear a mask or face covering while on campus. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation - it's up to all of us to keep our community safe.

Here, we answer some of the questions you may still have.

All of our courses are being taught via face-to-face delivery and are taking place on campus. We therefore expect you to attend classes in person, unless you are unwell or have to self isolate.

We will continue to invest in additional cleaning services and we are asking everyone to get tested and wear a mask (unless exempt), in order to keep our community safe. If you have strong reservations about returning to campus, please speak with your School Office.

All of our courses are being delivered on campus. The government has confirmed that from 27 September 2021 full distance learning is no longer permitted for student visa holders. If students are unable to travel to the UK due to Covid-19 restrictions, late arrival may be permitted and affected students should keep in regular touch with the University. It is important to attend teaching and learning activities to comply with the visa obligations.

We expect to experience pandemic-related disruption for some time. If you are unwell, or have to self-isolate, you will be able to access learning materials as well as recordings of some, but not all, of your teaching sessions via Weblearn. As with any period of sickness students are expected to catch up independently. Your academic mentors can also provide useful suggestions and support on how you can catch up and get back on track with your studies so do reach out to them.

In the event your lecturer is absent because of Covid, the School will attempt to arrange cover. If this is not possible the class will either be rescheduled or cancelled. It is at the discretion of the member of staff to decide if they want to deliver their session online however the University will assume they are absent through sickness and are not expected to work whilst unwell. We want to look after everyone in our community and we appreciate your understanding and help with this.

Yes. The easiest way is to order free tests from the NHS, register your result online and bring your email result confirmation to campus. Please do not bring the test itself, as it is a biohazard. You can also test at one of our campus self-testing rooms, or collect a test from a local pharmacy using a Collect Code - find out more about getting a Collect Code.

That's fine, please speak with your School Office to explain why you are exempt from testing. If this is approved, they will give you a letter of exemption. You can show this at reception when you arrive on campus instead of a test result.

Please write to your School Office to explain why you are exempt from testing to receive a letter of exemption. If this is approved, you can show this when you arrive on campus instead of a test result.

If it is a PCR test because you have symptoms or suspect that you may be at risk of having contracted Covid, do not come onto campus, contact covidreport@londonmet.ac.uk and follow the instructions that you receive. If you have tested on campus and are awaiting that test result it is ok to come onto campus. However, if the result you receive is positive you must leave campus, order a PCR test and contact covidreport@londonmet.ac.uk to inform us.

All the information you need about our rules for keeping everyone safe on campus are available on the website. Please keep checking back to keep up to date with the latest guidance to ensure you play your part in keeping our community safe. We know everyone, staff and students, are doing the best they can as we resume our activities after the extended period of restrictions. Unless you are exempt you are required to show evidence of a negative Covid test on campus, and to wear a mask, except while you are eating or drinking, and unless you are exempt.

This is so we can minimise the risk of disruption to teaching and learning activities.

We highly recommend that everyone wear a mask or face covering while on campus.
