About
The UK Government has set a target of 600,000 heat pump installations per year by 2028. To support this, Better Planet aims to commercialise a patented, fabric-integrated heat source system that captures heat from walls and roofs to improve the efficiency of heat pumps and solar photovoltaic–thermal (PVT) panels.
Through this Knowledge Transfer Partnership between Better Planet and researchers from London Met's School of the Built Environment, the team will prototype the system, optimise materials, and explore scalable manufacturing. The team's goal is to make urban regeneration projects – both retrofits and new builds – more practical, efficient, and cost-effective.
Better Planet
Better Planet are a leading UK renewable energy systems and installations provider, founded in 2004 by passionate environmentalists and climate change advocates. Their aim through this KTP is to prove that fabric heat loss can be captured and reused, eliminating waste and improving the economics of renewable heating systems.
