Sri Lankan International Banking and Finance MSc student Sellapperumage Rakitha Anthony Fernando discusses his decision to move to London to continue his studies at London Met.

Why did you decide to study at London Met?

I decided to study at London Met as it provides excellent services such as accommodation support, library facilities, learning materials, career guidance, free gym facilities and a campus-based education.

Why did you want to study in London?

I decided to study in London because of its diverse culture, fantstic restaurants, cafes, tourism destination and a lof of job opportunities.

How did you find it moving to another country?

As an international student moving to another country it can always be challenging at the start. Once you’ve got used to the environment and the culture, life starts to get very easy.

What has been your favourite part of the International Banking and Finance MSc?

My favourite part of the International Banking and Finance MSc is being able to use the Bloomberg Suite and its features. Bloomberg is a well-known company and its product is used by finance and analyst professionals across the world. London Met provides all students from the Guildhall School of Business and Law with the Bloomberg facilities which aids the learning on our course.

What do you hope to do after graduation?

My plan is to move into in the international banking sector when I graduate from this course. I’d like to take on roles such as investment banker, financial analyst, corporate banker or real estate agent.

What would you say to an international student considering a degree with London Met?

London Met isn’t just a university that helps you to gain a degree. It’s a university that provides extracurricular activities, entertainment, career guidance and much more.
