John Scott, Visiting Professor, gave a highly informative guest lecture on the role of mediation in resolving disputes to Post-graduate HRM students. He explained the role of mediation in reducing both the financial and emotional costs of dispute resolution, illustrating his talk with examples from practice. Given the recent changes in the role of ACAS, the legal fees associated with defending tribunal claims and the costs/charges to claimants in lodging cases at Employment Tribunals, John’s talk was particularly valuable as it provided a contemporary viewpoint illustrated with practical examples. Students reported the event as “fantastic” and “fabulous” – praise indeed for a fascinating talk that held the audience spellbound.

We have a number of excellent visiting professors on our HRM programmes. Come and join us and learn from their expertise and insights.
