Students honoured for volunteering work

Students awarded at Student Union ceremony

Date: 01/05/2015

Guildhall students were honoured at the Student Union Awards ceremony for their volunteering work with Rowan Arts. Out of the hundreds of nominations Sean Sieker, Alex Kumar and Jaako Peloken received an award for their continued commitment in giving up their time for Rowan Arts and Turquoise Thursday events.

Turquoise Thursday is a night of live music, experimental performance and collaboration at The George in Eden Grove and has seen each one of our award winning volunteers attend every Thursday since February. These successful events have featured a wide range of up-and-coming artists and serves as a platform to showcase raw talent.

Award winner Alex Kumar said "Volunteering has given us practical experience in many things and has already been useful, and certainly will be in the future too. We've also met a lot of wonderful people. Myself and my friends would definitely recommend volunteering to anyone."

Guildhall is always very proud of our student's achievements. Dr Jan Bamford says: "I am very proud of what Alex, Jaako and Sean have achieved and the dedication they have shown in their voluntary work with Rowan Arts. They are a credit to their peers and the BA Music Industry Management course. The award is a recognition of all their hard work and commitment to a voluntary project aimed at developing the local community in Islington."
