Congratulations to Francesco Gaudesi who achieved amazing results in his Master of Philosophy (MPhil) Viva. We managed to get in touch with Francesco to share his London Met experience with us.

What was your research about?
My research is a case study about artist management processes related to the concept of success in the music industry.

How did you find it?
My interest in studying artist management processes started when I was an intern at Spaceship Management.

The best way to learn about artist management was to observe my senior colleagues and study the literature, but most of the books were related to the “what” and not the “how” of artist management. So I decided to conduct a case study within the company in order to offer an insight into the practices applied by the senior managers of the company, with the ultimate aim to improve my own understanding of the subject.

What made you come to London Met?
When I decided to carry out my research project, I started to apply to several Universities in London. London Met was the first to respond, and I was keen to start on the course.

What you are doing now?
I’m currently a junior partner at Spaceship Management, a company specialising in artist management in the electro/pop musical genre.

Do you have any advice for London Met students about university and work life?
Have clear ideas about your research topic – stay focused on it, and have a lot of fun in your spare time.
