Professor Christian Frost to be new Head of Architecture at The Cass

Professor Frost will take up his post at the University on 1 July.

Date: 29 April 2019

Professor Christian Frost is to be the new Head of Architecture at The Cass.

Professor Frost joins us from Birmingham City University where he is currently Professor of Architecture and Director of History, Theory and Cultural Context. Prior to Birmingham City he taught at Kingston University, where he was Director of first year and later of the RIBA Part 2 course.

Christian studied Architecture at Cambridge before completing his doctorate at The Cass, supervised by Dr Matthew Barac and Prof Peter Carl, earlier this year. He has extensive experience in practice and has a wide knowledge of the factors affecting architecture education in the UK. He is a regular Chair of RIBA Visiting Boards and is a member of the RIBA's New Course and Course Changes Group.

Christian will bring significant knowledge of and ambition for the professional and academic expectations of architecture students and an architecture school, and of both the demands and the creative and intellectual potential in studying architecture. He was led to The Cass through the opportunity to "collaborate with students and staff interested in pushing the boundaries of the academic discipline of architecture."

He is an established researcher and is especially looking forward to nurturing the relationship between academia and practice in working alongside The Cass's "accomplished academics [and the] significant international reputation built off its close links with successful architectural practitioners and practices."

Professor Frost will take up his post on 1 July.
