Postgraduate HRM students learn of CIPD Branch benefits

Talk with CIPD North London Branch Committee Member

Date: 09/02/2015

Yetunde Oladipo, CIPD north London branch committee member, spoke to newly enrolled spring semester postgraduate human resource management (HRM) students on the role of the CIPD and its branches during a recent evening class session.

Yetunde’s highly informative talk covered a number of areas of key importance to HR professionals and those who are seeking to enter the HR profession. Students were alerted to the many benefits of CIPD membership including access to the latest HR research and online resources, special events/talks offered by the CIPD through its branch network, the range of discounts available to CIPD members and how to reduce membership costs via tax relief.

Yetunde also identified how students could take an active role within the CIPD at local branch level, outlining its many opportunities for networking. She gave examples of how knowledge-sharing and work opportunities had been facilitated within the north London branch via its members.

Students were shown how to use the CIPD’s ‘Professional Map’ to identify existing and future HR knowledge, skills and competencies and participated in a fun game of HR bingo. Students came away well-informed about how their course and the acquisition of CIPD membership can benefit their careers and the organisations they work for.

HRM programmes at London Met benefit from regular guest speakers, information sharing and networking opportunities.
