NFL Idol

Great opportunity for Sports Business Management students

Date: 16/04/2015

Sports Business Management students have the exclusive opportunity to compete for a three month internship with the with the World's highest grossing sports league, the National Football League (NFL).

The winning students will be working with the NFL on their first ever sport-4-development programme outside of the United States, which seeks to increase physical activity and enhance positive character attributes in youths in the London boroughs of Lambeth and Brent. Each intern will have responsibility for two of the six participating schools, with each school paired with one of the six NFL teams playing in London this coming NFL season.

NFL players, such as Calvin Johnson of the Detroit Lions, will be part of the programme, allowing the victorious students to rub shoulders with some of the World's biggest (literally) sporting stars.

To compete for these internships, the Sports Business Management students are required to submit a personal statement, CV, and attendance records to a panel of NFL executives and Sports Management faculty.

Course leader Dr. Charles Little said: "This competition reflects the excellent relationship our course has with leading sports organisations, which provide opportunities that will allow our graduates CVs to stand out in a crowd. I wish our students the best of luck in the NFL Idol competition."

This opportunity is a result of Sport Management faculty partnering with colleagues at Texas A&M University to evaluate the NFL's Play 60 sport-4-development programme.
