London Met to open new Highbury Canteen

London Metropolitan University will introduce a new Highbury Canteen to the Holloway campus by March 2018.

Date: 4 October 2017

London Metropolitan University is to introduce a brand new Highbury Canteen to the Holloway campus as part of One Campus, One Community (OCOC) in Spring 2018.

The University will transform what was previously known as ‘Enrico’s Kitchen’ into a modern catering outlet featuring a new cafe and seating area.

Designed by Bond Bryan Architects the new food hall will have an industrial, warehouse-inspired look, providing a relaxing atmosphere for those who need to refuel following an intense study session.

Highbury Canteen will open in C Block – an area of the Holloway campus which is to be refurbished and reintroduced as a teaching and learning facility in March 2018.

Students and staff will benefit from an enhanced refectory that is vibrant and well located for the convenience of those working or studying in the C Block area.

Jerry Woods, Head of Campus Services, said: "We are delighted to introduce a new, modern cafeteria to our Holloway campus. We want students and staff to have access to a vibrant refectory that is conveniently located for anyone working or studying in the C Block area.

"The head chef has now been appointed and we are pleased to be able to provide a new facility that will offer an enhanced menu with an extended hot food service.

"Highbury Canteen will be a place where students and staff can unwind, socialise and enjoy great food."

Works on the facility began in early August 2017 and are due for completion in March 2018.
