London Metropolitan University and Innovate Nepal Group (ING) are celebrating 15 years of a partnership which boosts international collaboration and provides significant opportunities for students.
ING is one of Nepal’s leading education networks. It consists of eight institutions, with London Met collaborating with three campuses: Islington College in Kathmandu, Informatics College Pokhara, and Itahari International College.
Islington College, the largest and most established campus, was formed in 1996 and this year celebrates 30 years of its mission to provide high-quality international education in Nepal.
Its long-standing partnership with London Metropolitan University began in 2011 when it became Nepal's first UK university college to offer full degree programmes from a UK university.
ING was established in 2015 to bring together a growing network of educational institutions committed to transforming lives through education. Since then, it has continued to expand its reach and impact across Nepal and achieved key milestones in quality recognition.
Its work was recognised by the Nepalese Ministry of Education with a Letter of Commendation for advancing the betterment of higher education in the country, and by achieving ISO 27001 certification, reinforcing its commitment to quality, innovation and continuous improvement.
Professor Gary Davies, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of London Met, said: “We are pleased to be able to celebrate this important milestone with ING. After all these years of working together, our partnership continues to thrive and grow.
“It has significantly supported economic development across Nepal, strengthened international collaboration and helped shape the next generation of global graduates – and it will continue to do so.
“Students to have benefited from the partnership praise the transformative impact of its high-quality international education and the opportunities it has created for them.”
Scholarship recipients Lakshina Bajracharya and Kushal Karki are two such examples of the opportunities provided to students. They are currently pursuing postgraduate studies at London Met while residing at International Students House.
Lakshina, who graduated from Islington College Nepal and is studying MA Visual Communication: Graphic Design, said: "When the opportunity appeared, I had the courage to step forward and see where it could take me."
And Kushal, who is continuing his academic journey in finance after completing a degree in Business Administration, highlighted the impact of the scholarship on his future aspirations.
He said: "The scholarship opened doors that would otherwise have been difficult to access."
Both students have embraced the opportunities that studying in London provides, developing academically, professionally and personally while building connections with students from around the world.
