Guildhall joins with the City to welcome the new Lord Mayor

London Met's London Guildhall Faculty of Business and Law proudly marched alongside its City neighbours at this weekend’s Lord Mayor’s Show.

Date: 11/11/2013

The procession was cheered on by a crowd of over half a million along the three and a half mile route through the City of London.

“We showed the whole City that London Guildhall Faculty of Business & Law is an international community” said Marco Brunone, an international business student.

“The engagement, energy and fun the students had goes beyond any other event at London Met. Proud to be London Met!”

International relations and politics student Plamena Solakova added “Thank you for the amazing opportunity to be part of the Lord Mayor's parade! Excellent job!”

The Faculty is based at Moorgate, in the heart of London’s commercial district, and offers course in business, management and law right next to the some of the biggest global banking corporations and law firms in the world.

A New Mayor and Patron

The weekend’s events celebrated the start of Alderman Alan Yarrow’s term as Lord Mayor of London. The new Lord Mayor will also become the Vice-Patron of London Metropolitan University.

The newly elected mayor commented: "It's a true pleasure, in my year as Lord Mayor and Vice Patron of London Metropolitan University to see the return of the Guildhall name associated with higher education in the City. Delivered at the iconic Electra House, Moorgate. Welcome to my show, London Guildhall Faculty of Business & Law!"

London Guildhall was added to the name of London Metropolitan University’s faculty for business, law and management courses and research earlier this year. The name relates to the Faculty’s history which dates back to 1848.
