Furniture graduate achieves triple success

Furniture and Product Design BA alumnus Moe Redish continues to build a reputation as one of the UK's most exciting young furniture designers.

Date: 06 September 2018

Moe Redish, who graduated from Furniture and Product Design BA in 2018, has achieved a number of successes in the last few months including having his designed furniture work go into commercial production.

Moe, who discovered his interest in design and crafts while completing his diploma in site carpentry, is passionate about design and making furniture and focuses on fine wooden furniture. His talent has been recognised by a number of organisations in recent weeks.

100% Forward

Moe has been nominated by internationally renowned furniture designer and founder of Joined + Jointed Samuel Chan for 100% Forward, an exciting addition to the 100% Design Festival 2018, a new showcase for emerging design talent in the UK.

Now in its twenty-fourth year, 100% Design is the largest and longest-running design trade event for industry professionals in the UK. The event attracts architects and designers looking for the latest trends in interior design and to discover emerging talent.

The inaugural 100% Forward competition has been curated by award-winning photographer and journalist Barbara Chandler, who said: “The creativity of these new designers embraces furniture, lighting, printed/woven textiles and ceramics…not to mention origami and illuminated wallpaper. Some designers have just graduated; others are already making their way. They will be given a platform at 100% Design to show their work and engage with visitors. Their stories will inform, intrigue, inspire and impress.”

Young Furniture Maker Exhibition

Moe was awarded second place in the Derek Austin awards, which celebrate excellence in furniture design and making, for his Lift sideboards which will be exhibited at this year’s Young Furniture Makers exhibition on 10 October. Organised by The Furniture Makers’ Company, a City of London livery company and the furnishing industry’s charity, the exhibition was set up for students and graduates to showcase their work, and meet potential employers and members of the Company, giving them networking opportunities and the chance to receive valuable feedback.

Collaboration with Joined + Jointed

Moe is putting the final touches in place to exhibit for 100% Design held at Olympia London during the London Design Festival. His slide desk will be launched as the latest product in the Joined + Jointed range at the festival.
