Furniture and Product Design graduate Anton Mikkonen features in high profile showcase curated by design editor of Evening Standard.

Anton Mikkonen, a 2019 graduate of Furniture and Product Design at The Cass, has been selected for inclusion in Design Fresh, a showcase of new talent curated by Barbara Chandler, design editor of Homes & Property at the London Evening Standard.
Anton, who will be exhibiting his graduation project Udon Ash Stool, is among thirty designers including selected to demonstrate how global concerns such as climate change; carbon emissions and waste from our lifestyles and industry can be tackled through design.
Design Fresh, which takes place at 100% design from the 18- 21 September is a celebration of outstanding breakthrough talent scouted at major UK design degree shows as well as at two editions of New Designers, with input from over 200 creative courses.
The Udon Stool by Anton Mikkonen aims to create a sense playfulness through the use of traditional material, solid ash wood and modern manufacturing, using a 2D CNC Machine to shape the top and legs.
Talking about Udon, Anton said "I’m from Finland, where I have always been surrounded by nature, with a humble lifestyle that celebrates the simple joys of living. This is at the core of my design practice."
